Another benefit over this antenna compared to the old analog is with and high definition antenna you will not get ghosting or interference. This is because the communication now will be in a digital format. So now you either get the signal or you don't! That's the wonder of digital. Over-the-air (OTA) signals are free to get. The only out of wallet expenditure would be for the hdtv antenna itself needed to recognise them. To get HD programming from your cable/satellite company you would need to sign-up to their High def service. Be knowledgeable though that this subscription is not free. The company might require a minimum length of service and generally charge an extra fee to obtain your local hi def channels. Does a HDTV mean I'm watching high definition? No. Just owning a high definition television is the premiere step in watching HD content. Does your TV have a HD receiver? The tuner will either be built into the television or an outside set-top box is required. The set-top boxes can be bought in almost any electronics store, but most will originate from your cable or satellite provider.
